Do you have to meet certain requirements to be an admin on Test Wikipedia? --Gray Porpoise 19:17, 12 August 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

    Inactivity policy[edit]

I concur with THO's removal of the rather silly inactivity policy. Snowolf How can I help? 05:59, 7 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This is a testwiki without a community that keeps an eye on actions, especially because Mike.lifeguard keeps spamming RC. Inactive admin bear a latent problem if the account gets compromised ... Axpde (talk) 23:45, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I also agree with this inactivity policy. Many people don't consider it a problem or don't care if the account has the flag, but does not use it, but they fail to realize the potential threats.  Hazard-SJ  ±  03:18, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
<http://test.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&hideanons=1>, alternatively you could block a few of the IPs as Mike is retired, Special:Contributions/62.49.18.107, Special:Contributions/193.25.116.40 and Special:Contributions/216.21.215.116 seem to have a majority of the edits I see Mike is active on this wiki, and on second thoughts, the first link is all you need . The damage that a compromised admin account would do on this test wiki in comparison to somewhere like enwiki is minimal. Whilst damage on the English Wikipedia would be publically viewable, I don't think that this site is even indexed on the search engines - so the only people that would see the damage (which is very unlikely to occur), would be us. Thehelpfulone (talk) 12:15, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The damage a compromised account would do to a test wiki is negligible, and if all you're worried about is a compromised account then desysop accounts with no edits crosswiki in the last year or something. Snowolf How can I help? 02:19, 11 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have been ranting against these inactivity policies as well. I don't see any point in them. I think they should be loosened, and take the global activity into account, not just the local one. Being committed to doing at least 1 admin action/6 months is just nonsense on a test area. Elfix (talk) 13:16, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I concur with Elfix; the desysopping policy is quite pointless. Frankly, I don't understand the need of stringent policies regarding rights, blocks etc. in this wiki seeing that it is not a primary content or administration wiki, but a place to test MW bugs and errors. I'm not suggesting allowing vandals and trolls to get full access here, just that we should ease up on our policies to a practicable level for this wiki. Pmlineditor (talk) 13:25, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The desysopping policy here is very pointless. As THO said, people should have better things to do than worry about removing the sysop flag from inactive accounts on a test wiki. Though, I agree, the potential for abuse is massive. As I understand it, inactive admin accounts here get hacked on a weekly basis and are used to vandalize such highly viewed pages as User:Mike.lifeguard/34-secure.t, and sometimes even Sandbox! Still doesn't seem worth it IMO :P Ajraddatz (talk) 21:07, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
    • This is not a community wiki, it is a testwiki for devs and people who want/need to test features and stuff. Sometimes you only need the mop ones a year. It is a test wiki, no one really cares. Remove the people when the go inactive everywhere. There is no point of a policy. Just pointless on a testwiki, really. (Note: I normally support such policies, but not on test or labs wikis.) -Barras talk 21:02, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I've removed the section, as there's clear consensus on the matter here. Snowolf How can I help? 05:24, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

    Inactive admins 2018[edit]

The following admins are being desysoped for lengthy inactivity. They have had no activity on testwiki for over 5 years, and no WMF global activity for over 2 years.
